The Rolling Stones, Arctic Monkeys, Alt-J, Jessie Ware… Who else will perform at this year's edition of the festival?
From one of our favorite DJs, virtuoso of “new soul” Gilles Peterson, arrives early news of the line-up of his extraordinary Worldwide Festival, which takes place in the mountains of Leysin in Switzerland, March 20 to 24. In the heart of the Alps, the midst of unspoiled nature and breathtaking views, the rich programme promises a journey through the most sophisticated interpretations of the dance floor, from the pulsing rhythms of electronica to modern jazz phrasing, from the vocals of soul to the sensuality of funk. We’re looking forward to the return of Goldie, the DJ behind the “original” UK jungle scene with his legendary Metalheadz nights at London’s Blue Note, who will be appearing alongside DJ Q. Another must-see act will be Neneh Cherry, on stage together with Rocketnunbernine. From sunset till late in venues across the town, artists, DJs and bands like the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, a real brass eight-piece from Chicago, will be keeping the party going along along with the likes of Noze with their electro funk to guarantee the dancing till dawn. All the acts were chosen personally by Gilles Peterson and embody his vision of the dance floor as a place to develop new forms of expression. Worldwide will have a summer event from 1 to 7 July in Sète in southern France, a charming village by the sea, where the concerts will also be held on the beach.
