Sonar goes global in 2013
As keen as ever to showcase cutting-edge talent Sonar is travelling to two countries rich in musical innovation in 2013 – Iceland and Brazil – in addition to holding its annual three day festival in Barcelona. On 15 and 16 February the line up at Sonar Reykjavik will include Squarepusher, James Blake, legendary Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto, Olafur Arnalds, Gus Gus and Mugison. Between May 24-25, alongside the Pet Shop Boys and Kraftewerk at Sonar Sao Paulo, there will be hip hop demi-god The Roots, Jamie Liddell and Theo Parrish alongside home-grown talent Mau Mau, Renato Ratier and Tacsi. The Pet Shop Boys will also headline at Sonar’s 20th birthday celebration in Barcelona on June 13-15 with a special live show, with Kraftwerk using 3D technology to give their performance extra oomph.
The tour will also stop in Cape Town on March 1 and Tokyo April 7-8.
