Their fusion of rave and indie is one of the things that makes them unique, with a new album always eagerly awaited. Fans need not wait much longer
The British music scene continues to offer up increasingly sophisticated and creative voices like Laura Marling, already something of a veteran at 23 with two albums behind her.
Her third, ‘Once I Was An Eagle’, strikes you even on first listen by the purity of its melodies, underpinned by the delicate sound textures characteristic of British folk, itself more than touched by the global currents running through the culture of the nation. It’s an album at once elusive and designed to conquer, its lyrics drawing the listener into a very intimate, almost “live” setting with Ms Marling managing to convey the feeling she is performing just for you. And as well enjoying that live sound on CD, if you’re Stateside why not experience it in the flesh? In November Laura will be on tour: 7, Dallas, The Kessler, 9, New Orleans, Civic Theatre, 16, Athens, Georgia Theatre.
