Their fusion of rave and indie is one of the things that makes them unique, with a new album always eagerly awaited. Fans need not wait much longer
In the wake of her debut album Devotion charting in the UK top five, Jessie Ware is beginning her European tour. Yes, there’s a touch of Lana Del Ray in the vocals, the introspection, but so too “the missing link” between Adele, SBTRKT and Sade, according to some.
Truth is, Jessie Ware is developing an image and sound that’s all her own – there’s some “lounge” in there, and a certain elegance too, reminiscent of Breakfast at Tiffany’s. And a little like a gin-laced cocktail from that Sixties movie, she’s sweet but gotta kick. Take a look at her latest video, Night Light, shot in black and white, a kind of synthesis of pop and French existentialism, Madonna’s Frozen shot by Jean-Paul Sartre. With Devotion waiting in the wings for the Mercury Awards, Jessie has released a remix of Night Light by Joe Goddard, who has transformed it into a sure-fire dance hit.
Jessie’s live tour will include Amsterdam’s legendary Paradiso and Brixton’s Electric.
