The passion for art, the possibilities offered by different media, the pleasure of exploring new forms of communication is increasingly involving some of the most interesting musicians of the international scene, in particular those that have their roots in urban culture. Jay-Z, one of urban music’s royalty, has recently produced an ambitious work, ‘Magna Charta Holy Grail’, in collaboration with stars such as Timbaland, Pharrell, Beyonce, Nas and Justin Timberlake.

A vast, wildly ambitious project, one of the songs on the album was staged in a performance lasting several hours in the prestigious Pace Gallery in New York, where Jay-Z performed with Marina Abramović, one of the most celebrated artists of our time. The pair, along with other invited guests, produced a video art piece with the singer obsessively repeating the rhymes of the song accompanied by the elegant gestures of Abramović, creating a choreography of modern dance.

An unusual meeting between two very different personalities, but both representative of some of the best art available today.
