Their fusion of rave and indie is one of the things that makes them unique, with a new album always eagerly awaited. Fans need not wait much longer
The golden times keep coming for Emeli Sandé. The Scottish soul singer, who triumphed in the charts with her sophisticated debut Our Version of Events and is already writing her new album has just won the prestigious Brit Awards 2013 for Best British female artist and Best British Album. To celebrate the award she has released a live CD recorded at the Royal Albert Hall, with all the hits this extraordinary performer has written over her short time in the spotlight. And, true to her passion for artistic encounters and collaborations, Sandé continues to record new versions of her back catalogue in the company of stars of hip-hop. And after her duets with famous British rappers, now the singer takes part in a collaboration with Kendrick Lamar, American urban superstar and creator of the acclaimed good kid, m.A.A.d city which quickly became a classic of contemporary hip hop. Musician and producer Lamar is a rapper of great poetic intensity, who uses words with the same creative force with which the great jazz musicians use their instruments, as demonstrated in songs like Compton, produced by Dr. Dre. Two innovators in Europe and America, they chose a song from Sandé’s repertoire to create the stunning Soul Symphony. It doesn’t get much better than this.
