Their fusion of rave and indie is one of the things that makes them unique, with a new album always eagerly awaited. Fans need not wait much longer
Drake is much admired by the likes of Justin Timberlake, who asked him to collaborate on his album The 20/20 Experience Part 2.
The rapper’s resonant vocals and roots in gospel, along with a profound understanding of electronic music, has now resulted in an album – Nothing Was the Same – which has attracted some of the most important names in the business.
There’s Jay Z, who collaborates on ‘Pound Cake’, and in the deluxe edition of the album there’s Big Sean and 2 Chainz.
Drake often uses his songs as declarations of love to the artists who have influenced him like rap superstars Wu-Tang Clan, to whom he dedicated Wu-Tang Forever. And Wu-Tang returned the complement, remixing the track in a perfect symbiosis between the generations.
Nothing Was the Same will be showcased on tour with Miguel and Future. On October 28th at Barclays Center in Brookyln, New York, 31 at the Verizon Center in Washington, November 5 at the American Airlines Arena, November 25 at the Los Angeles Stapes Centre.
