Daft Punk

Inventors of the “French Touch”, they brought physicality back to the dance floor, gave soul to the mechanical sound of contemporary electronica, an irresistible meeting of Kraftwerk and James Brown. Not having performed live since 2007, news of Daft Punk’s comeback is one of the highlights of the year. But what have they been up to all this time?  Well for the past couple of years they’ve been immersed in the production of their new album due out in May and the result of an extraordinary creative laboratory. Daft Punk transformed their Paris recording studio into a workshop/ salon for a wide range of artistes. Not by chance the first to talk about the release of the new album was Nile Rodgers, legendary Chic guitarist. Chic, the band, who helped lay the foundations of disco and rap, have long hung out with the duo. But the guest list goes on…

There’s Oscar winning composer Paul Williams, avante garde popstars Chili Gonzales and Panda Bear, and another disco mastermind: Donna Summer producer Giorgio Moroder. Will this be the soundtrack to summer 2013? Could be. The album is expected to be followed by a very limited set of live concerts at international festivals. Watch this space…
